This piece is a recreation of Janet Jackson’s iconic Rolling Stones cover released in 1993, the year that I was born. For my 30th birthday I wanted to capture my beauty, youth, and all things love and art. I couldn’t have thought of a better way to do this than to depict a 90s love album that influenced the way I love so much.

The photo was staged with a woman’s hands as I date women, and wanted to show femininity to stimulate the viewer. Embellishments are used on her nails.

Metallic paint and oil as well as acrylic was used to paint a frame on the canvas of the print. Photoshop was used to edit my tattoos out of my arms and create a more polished look reminiscent of the album.
